North Carolina Native Plant Certified Garden

Open House

Sunday, May 17th from 3-5 pm

Pinnacle Elementary School

1095 Surry Line Rd

Pinnacle NC 27043

Join a small group (limited to 15 people) to visit a Native Plant garden installed by the Pinnacle Ruritan Club at an elementary school in between Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock.

(see map for directions, parking and location of the main garden)

The garden is meant to serve as a teaching tool for the students to learn what a native plant is, why they are important to local ecosystems, and why protecting the environment is important for everyone. It currently has approximately 55 different species of NC native plants with several rare and state critically imperiled species.

The garden is a work in progress and we hope to attract some visitors familiar with design considerations who can give suggestions for new species, location of plants, etc.  The visit will be led by two native plant enthusiasts who just happen to work at local nurseries.

If interested you can hike the State Parks in the morning and come to visit the garden in the afternoon (these hikes are just a suggestion and will not be guided).
