Visit the native woodland garden of Beth and Bob Davis in south Charlotte. This suburban garden is designed to feed and shelter wildlife with native plants. Over the past 20 years we’ve experimented to find native plants that survive shade, summer droughts and wildlife visitors (think deer and voles!) In early to mid spring the garden features coral honeysuckle, shooting stars, fern leaf Phacelia, Robin’s plantain, mayapple, green and gold, phlox, ginger, golden Alexander and more to welcome spring in Charlotte.

We’ve also tried to be good environmental stewards by collecting leaves in a compost bin, rain in 6 rain barrels, and repurposing logs and stones for paths. This garden slopes to a creek and we have attempted to slow rain run-off with terraces and plant material. We are in the process of converting much of the grass area to moss due to the heavy shade. This garden was certified in 2015. The garden tour includes a greenhouse for starting seeds and a honeysuckle draped pergola.

Please arrive at 2:00 PM for a guided tour.
