Do you want to identify native trees and their buds in the winter?
Where: Gorges State Park Visitor's Center Classroom, Sapphire, NC 28774
Carrie Blair uses slides, books and samples of leaves and twigs to illustrate how you can determine the Genus, and often the species as well, of our locally growing native trees. After watching her power point program, a walk outside will guide participants to identify common trees up close.
Attendees are invited to bring twigs, live (recently cut), at least 1 foot long terminal branches, perhaps with leaves or fruit, including leaf scars and buds.
Carrie will bring a long list of tree field guides (beginner to advanced) that she recommends, and she will have many of these books with her on display.
This event is free and open to the public, but classroom space is limited to the first 28 who "Register." If the workshop fills, there will be a waiting list.
