Cary is again allowing us to do plant rescues before work begins on the next phase of the Black Creek Greenway Renovations Project. The main plants to rescue currently are Christmas ferns and trout lilies.

There are two main rescue sites - both smaller and less diverse than the site we rescued from last year, but with plenty of Christmas ferns and trout lilies.  We will access at least one of the sites from North Cary Park.  From there we will walk down a paved trail through the park to Black Creek Greenway and along the greenway to the rescue site.  Carts are useful to transport the rescued plants back up the hill (about a 500-ft elevation change).  We may find a closer access point for the 2nd site.  More info to follow about where to meet for this particular rescue closer to the date.

Cap 10 people, NCNPS Members only - Registration required.  All participants in this rescue will need to sign liability waivers for the Town of Cary AND for NCNPS.  The Cary waiver is a form you have to fill out, not just a check box.  So click on that link and fill it out before you check the box! (Unless you've been on a recent 2025 Black Creek Greenway rescue and already filled out the form.)

Please only sign up if you plan to attend.  If life happens and you are no longer able to come, please cancel your registration and/or let us know so we can open up the spot to someone else. If you're signing up for two members, please enter separate registrations.

After you register, you should receive a confirmation email. If not please check the registration page to be sure you're actually on the list. Email us if you have questions or can't access the event page on the members only section of the NCNPS website.
