Granite of the Rolesville Batholith is well exposed at Mitchell’s Millpond State Natural Area.  This 93-acre site is a Registered Heritage Area, and contains some of the best examples of native plant communities that grow in such a “granitic flatrock” environment.  Herb Amyx will be our leader.

Mitchell Mill State Natural Area is located in northeastern Wake County - a few miles east of Rolesville.  Address in Google Maps is 5898 State Rd 2300, Wake Forest, NC 27587.  We will meet at the small gravel parking area at the corner of Mitchell Mill Road and Pulleytown Road and walk up to the location where we will enter the site.

Cap of 15.  NCNPS members have priority.
